Ultimate Fans of Chennai Super Kings

Tamilnadu players are treated shabbily even in their own Chennai team. While 4/5 local players are projected in all other India teams, in CSK, hardly one or two are seen and they are also projected as unimportant. A foreiner as captain will not be so partial. In the first game, Ashwin an excellant off-spinner was not given even one over and being an excellant bat was in batting order 11 after Goni and Joginder and did not have a chance to play. Badrinath was sent so low, he appeared fed up and went rash. Probably this is one way to humiliate, frustrate and eliminate TN players by the captain. What are the owners & Stake holders, who are great personalities in cricket and done a lot for TN cricket. Please act before things get totally out of control for TN players. We want contribution from foreign and other Indian players also, but not by throwing out Chennai locals.

Murali ---> He will definitely get his chance. He can be agressive too maybe will give a right & left combination
Ashwin ---> Is not a hard hitter, Badri or Raina can bowl couple of overs of off-spin, so if murali plays he has no role.
Badri, Balaji --> They will play most of the matches, Balaji needs to be more consistent
Amarnath ---> I don't think he is in the same class as Goni (who picks up wickets at the right moment), he does not even get a regular TN spot.

I think only player who is not pulling his weight is Joginder, he will get replaced soon. Also remember Fleming observed all players for 3 weeks and he does not care which state he is from.
Also Dhoni is a rated as god captain because he backs players his instinct says are good and he believes in giving player a long rope, so when some TN player does well he will get a long run ...

Remember ICL is real culprit for CSK not having good TN T20 players.

Dear Shiva, Sathya, Rajesh - Nice to see the balanced and matured opinions from the three of you. You seem to have missed my main point. Current TN players are fantastic and need proper exposure and nurturing. Last year it was first time for everyone and still in other teams, local players were / are not dumped and the captains are doing an excellent job. Let us not assume that Murali, Ashwin, Badri, Balaji , Amarnath cannot do well. Even if they fail initially, if there will be no discrimination, they are bound to do well, which will ensure wins for CSK and that is what we fans want. All big names you have mentioned have failed consistently earlier and because they were persisted with, they are great players today, and we enjoy their contribution. Now - Ashwin was definitely ignored in the first match and CSK lost and Ashwin also lost an opportunity. Parthiv should get in only as a replacement to Dhoni, because there are other big local hitters available. How is it that unknown Goni and Joginder get a priority over proven Balaji or even Flintoff and Morkel, who are denied the shining ball? CSK is the loser having spent big money on these international players, while Goni and Joginder are being projected above the available good seamers. Murali Vijay should be an automatic opener with Hayden which will benefit both CSK and Vijay. Even if he fails initially, he should be nurtured, so that he becomes an asset, as he gets exposed and experiencd and CSK and the country benefit. That is how Sewag, Yuvaraj, Gambir are great today. (We know how Dhoni gave priority last year & wanted Parthiv for the NZ tour, demonstrating his fanatic approach). My point is that being a CSK captain, do not ignore local lads and do not give priority only to other Indians, who are no better than the locals. For example we are lucky we have Dhoni and Raina as batsmen in the team and we relish it. But not other Indians, who are no better than locals. This does not mean that I am against anyone personally, but against excessive boost to not-so-great-other India players at the cost of locals and international players. As CSK fans, let us all wish CSK - ALL THE BEST. Lt us not say that IPL is not for experimenting, because sincere approach succeeds impartial actions.

Lets clearly understand the fact that fans of CSK we are at the mercy of players from other states and other countries, (and be happy they took CSK to the height last years by being the runners of the tournament nad also the other team the winners of the last year IPL does not have a star of a state player in their team) yes its a fact that CSK does not have a star player of the state comparing to Yuavaraj for Punjab, Shevag for Delhi, Tendulkar for Mumbai, Ganguly for Kolkata, VVS Lakshman for Hyderabad, Dravid for Bangalore and if you look into CSK and mean players of the state of repute and recognition they are Balaji and Badrinath and they have both found their place in the team adequately in the first three match. Lets just support the YELLOWS as they carry our city's name CHENNAI

CSK team main resposibility is to win period. Someone bought this team for 100Million remember that. Murali has played zero IPL T20 whereas Parthiv played a reasonable T20, so if you are a captain who will you field ?
Flintoff is key new addition available only for 6 matches, so they need to play him ahead of Badri (Badri is good striker of ball but one cannot say he is bigger hitter than Flintoff) . Last year we had one less Overseas player - batsman and so Badri got a chance to bat higher, this year he needs to use whatever chace he gets ...
Last year Anirudha, Vidyut got plenty of chances but failed to capitalize.
I would love to see TN player get a chance but not at the cost of CSK winning. Also there are 12 more games to play so they will rest player.
Dhoni favors Joginder but Balaji is bolwing pretty ordinarily.
Shiva Comment by Shiva on April 23, 2009 at 11:18am
This is what we are seeing in the last 2 matches., but that doesn't mean that TN players are ignored.

We will wait and see.. I hope Dhoni realizes each potential and act accordingly. Badri has to be given an opportunity to bat at 3 or 4. He did that in last season. Hope Vijay will get his slot as well.

We should grab the opportunity whenever it knocks. I am seeing we are not showing more intensity in that. We are not making the most of it... We should develop the habit of that as this is a very competitive world.
